On the Set of I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell - August 12, 2008

So this whole past week I was on the set of I Hope They Serve Beer In Hell. I got there just in time for the strip club scene. And, logically, there were hot scantily clad women EVERYWHERE. Everywhere you turned, boom, ass. Besides all the strippers being crazy hot, they were all extremely nice. When my mom asked Puma Swede to take a picture with me (she kept asking all the strippers to take pictures with me, which was a bit embarrassing, but I guess after driving from SD she gets to embarrass me) Puma asked, "Top or no top?" My mom was taken aback and said whatever she wants. "OK, no top," and out come the tits. So now I have a picture with a topless porn star... taken by my mom. Welcome to my life.

The whole film crew was cool, as well. They set me up with this video monitor (side note: the brand was HPVideo. My mom got the joke) so I could watch the scenes without being in the way. At first my mom had to hold it for me. Two of the guys saw she was getting tired, so they rigged up a mechanical arm for it. Every once in a while other crew members would ask us if we were okay or if we needed anything.

Now, on to the actual movie.

I had read an early version of the script and thought it was okay. Not great, but not bad either. Then Tucker sent me the new, revised version. And, while it was much better, I still wasn't sure how the jokes were going to play out on screen. Don't get me wrong, they are hilarious, but I couldn't see them being acted out in a non-forced way. But boy was I wrong. All the actors are just top-notch.

Let me start with the guy playing Drew (Slingbade), Jesse Bradford. The first time I saw him he was when came back from lunch and started pacing back and forth mumbling, "I'm angry" over and over, trying to get back into character. Maybe I'm biased because a lot of the scenes I saw were focused on his character, but GODDAMN can that guy act. His delivery was just perfect. He has at least one line that I'm sure will be endlessly quoted in strip clubs everywhere. Not to take anything away from Matt Czuchry and Geoff Stults, but I think he's going to steal the show.

Second is the guy playing the Dan character, Geoff Stults. He is a solid actor and overall nice guy. Plus he's a Bronco fan, which is never a bad thing. The only thing I don't like about him is that he's cut like a Greek god. It didn't help he kept walking around in a wife-beater. Oh, he's also dating Stacy Keibler. Lucky motherfucker.

I didn't get to interact much with Matt Czuchry, but he looked extremely comfortable as Tucker. Also, when he found out I was a Tucker fan he said he was going to do everything in his power to make his words come to life. You can't ask for more than that.

The director, Bob Gosse, was an amazingly great guy. Whenever he wasn't busy he would come up to me and say, "Hey, hotwheelz! Having a good time?" It was cool being called that, but horrifying at the same time because my mom was right there and I've been trying hard to keep this site from her. After taking a picture, he jokingly said, "I expect this to be your avatar on the site." It was probably the only time I was glad my mom is technologically retarded and (hopefully) probably had no idea what he meant. Don't get me wrong though, it was cool that he liked my ramblings.

One thing that did disappoint me is that I didn't get to meet Nils Parker. I did see him a couple of times, but he looked sweaty and hurried, so I didn't want to bother him. Overall though, I came out extremely impressed with the movie and can't wait for the premiere.
